Koscielny left has missed three league games for Arsenal

Watford have started the season well and will be hoping to unsettle the Arsenal side early on in their encounter.

Nacho Monreal is expected to be available, but Laurent Koscielny has been nursing a troublesome Achilles which flared up before the global break, while Calum Chambers is recovering from a groin problem.

Alex Iwobi has impressed during his stint in the line-up and Arsene Wenger could continue to show faith in the Nigerian forward.

Arsenal are ready to thrust Laurent Koscielny back into action this weekend amid fears Shkodran Mustafi will miss at least a month with a thigh injury.

Koscielny's possible return has taken added importance this week amid Shkodran Mustafi's definite absence following a thigh injury while playing for Germany that is expected to result in a relatively long-term issue.

The Gunners could face further disappointment if Kolasinac is deemed unfit to play and the injuries could see young defender Calum Chambers step into the back-three.

Asked about Mustafi on Thursday, Wenger confirmed to the media: 'We have lost Mustafi for about four to six weeks.

Now 32, Koscielny is one of the most experienced players in Arsene Wenger's squad, too. "It looks like if he survives the test he is capable to play". If he has no pain on his Achilles tendon, he can play. At the moment he is not available. "But he trained on his own and the first signs are positive, so we made a decision to give him a test tomorrow", he added. I will decide that tomorrow.

Concerningly right now is that Arsenal's only fit central defenders are Rob Holding, Per Mertesacker and Nacho Monreal. Wenger did however have good news regarding Mesut Ozil. Sanchez won't be back with us until tomorrow.
