Among area schools planning Veterans Day programs are Bureau Valley (Buda) at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Hall High School on Friday morning, Ladd Grade School at 10:30 a.m. Friday, and Logan Junior High School in Princeton and Bureau Valley (Wyanet), both at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Local veterans and families are invited to attend as the students and staff offer a honest thank you to the fearless men and women who selflessly served our country to help shape it into the great nation it is today.

Reception for Washington County veterans, Blair High School atrium, 440 N. 10th St., Friday.

In honor of Veterans Week, a special performance will be shown at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9. The dinner is open to veterans and their spouses. This invitation was accepted by more than 35 community veterans. Past Commander of the State of Wisconsin American Legion Daniel Seehafer will be the guest speaker. The guest speaker will be Bill Longmore, US Army Specialist. "I'm looking forward to enjoying all the day's activities with our school family and veterans from our community".

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Corvallis American Legion Post #91 has four veteran events.

The brief ceremony includes the posting of colors by the University of Illinois ROTC; singing of the National Anthem by Parkland alum Joseph Kirby; a welcome by Parkland College President Dr. Thomas Ramage, an Army National Guard veteran; and the presentation of campus veterans/order of service by Tim Wendt, Parkland's director of enrollment services and an Army veteran. Students and teachers have invited the veterans in their lives to attend, the release stated.

A member of Sky Dive San Diego will land on Coronado's High School Football Field at a past "Take A Veteran To School Day". "For the students, as we simulate the gravesite ceremony in the folding of the flag, and then in explaining to them what's going on - I think that's one of the main interests of the program", Bednarek said.

The program will last approximately one hour.

The program begins at 8:45 a.m., with the opening reading and prayer.

On Saturday, each veteran will get two free tickets to see UW-W's football team play UW-Eau Claire.
