Washington Huskies to face Penn State Nittany Lions in Fiesta Bowl

MBB Triumphs at Iowa 77-73

This is the third time the Nittany Lions have faced Washington with Penn State going 2-0 against the Huskies in the previous meetings dating back to 1921 and 1983. But after Ohio State was edged out for a spot in the College Football Playoff, the selection committee instead sent the Buckeyes to face USC in the Cotton.

Penn State gutted it out down the stretch and fended off an Iowa rally for a 77-73 win at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in its 2017-18 Big Ten season opener. Washington, which had only one loss, edged Penn State, which had two. Washington checked in at No. 11. However, this is Penn State's first appearance in the Fiesta Bowl since the 1996 season when the Nittany Lions topped Texas, 38-15, on January 1, 1997. I'm also excited that our Penn State community will get to gather in Phoenix for the first time in more than 20 years to again celebrate the Penn State family! The Huskies' junior quarterback holds numerous school records and threw for 2,544 yards and 18 touchdowns with five interceptions this season. Its last appearance came on January 1, 1997, in a win over Texas.
