Arsenal boss Unai Emery has played Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi in the heart of his side this season and it looks as though Torreira will have to wait for a chance for his first Premier League start.

Emery insists reports he has a frosty relationship with Ozil are absurd.

The Gunners travel to Newcastle United on Saturday for a rare 3:00 pm Premier League clash ahead of the Europa League group stage opener next Thursday.

"Also I think he is working for the team to help us with his quality".

"I just have a feeling it might work this time".

He said: "First the players have the habits to play in the global break, in important matches, defending their identity and when one player is finishing that, I think it is also good for them to focus only on their team".

Arsenal manager Emery said he enjoyed a "relaxing" three days with Ozil in training after the player's retirement from global football meant he did not depart with the Germany squad last week.

"Saturday is another step we can do, it will be hard but I want to continue [to show] our personality on the pitch and impose this personality on the opposition and to find the win". Mesut works very well here.

"Our aim away at Newcastle on Saturday is to keep improving things and continue to create our idea, build up our spirit on the pitch, individually and collectively, and it is clear this process is one process".

Ozil has looked slightly out of place when Emery has deployed him on the right wing rather his normal central role as a No. 10, but Emery reiterated that the German is happy switching between the two. I don't know any other news from him'.
