ESPN's Marc Raimondi reports Velasquez signed a "lucrative" WWE contract and has notified UFC of his decision to retire from active competition.

WWE have revealed that boxing star Tyson Fury will make his wrestling debut when he fights Braun Strowman at the Crown Jewel showcase on October 31. Cain Velasquez and Braun Strowman vs. Tyson Fury.

Velasquez, 37, retires from MMA with a professional record of 14-3 including notable wins over Junior dos Santos, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and he beat Lesnar to win the heavyweight title at UFC 121. He has been removed from the UFC's United States Anti-Doping Agency drug-testing pool and the UFC heavyweight rankings. The bout will happen at WWE Crown Jewel at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The UFC did not immediately return a request for comment.

WWE officials announced the match-up on Friday, revealing that WWE champion Lesnar would square off with Velasquez.

Lesnar vs. Velasquez was facilitated by Velasquez, flanked by the injured Rey Mysterio, assaulting Lesnar on last Friday night's episode of SmackDown.

It's interesting to note that Lesnar is appearing on tonight's WWE Draft edition of SmackDown as he is not eligible for a selection until Monday's RAW from Denver.

One of the greatest UFC fighters of all-time is transitioning into pro wrestling full-time.

"This is definitely my focus", Velasquez told ESPN last week.
