On Episode 5 of UFC 216 Embedded, interim lightweight title contenders Kevin Lee and Tony Ferguson wind down Thursday on track with their weight cuts, as do flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger Ray Borg.

After winning the lightweight belt in November, McGregor took a break to await the birth of his son, then he boxed Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26 in a lucrative boxing match, losing by technical knockout in the 10th round.

Ferguson let his guard down and allowed Lee to hit him, especially in the first round, but continued to talk trash regardless.

"That boy is scared", Ferguson said.

"I don't care. I'm here right now".

His coach John Kavanagh wants to see the Crumlin native fight Nate Diaz for the third time but UFC boss White insists the Stockton bruiser is not part of the picture. This is chess and this is check.

Ferguson vs Lee will headline UFC 216 and "El Cucuy" would appear to have gained a significant early advantage over "The Motown Phenom", with Ferguson getting a big headstart on his rehydration thanks to Lee's weight dramas.

Lee said he felt the effects of cutting 19 pounds in less than 24 hours before Friday's weigh-in, and from battling a staph infection without using antibiotics.

The shining example of returning to business as usual was flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, who set a new UFC record by winning his 11th consecutive title defense, eclipsing the mark set by former long-reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

After the fight, Johnson paid tribute to the medical staff who attended the tragic events in Las Vegas the previous weekend, before revealing he'd drilled his spectacular finishing sequence repeatedly in training camp: "I hit that suplex to armbar so many times in the gym". Mid-way through the 5th round, Johnson slammed him to the canvas, locked up and arm-bar mid-way through the maneuver, and seconds later, after a brief struggle, coaxed out the tap.

While McGregor likes the idea of fighting Khabib in Russian Federation, his inconsistency in showing up to fights puts millions in promoting at stake if he doesn't make weight. Whatever I'm going through doesn't take away from what he did.

White added that he has "kinda" talked to McGregor about his next fight.
