Two games temporarily leave Epic Games Store during first-ever sale

Epic Games Store Mega Sale

Today Epic Games Store started their Epic Mega Sale, which will go from May 16 to June 13.

The Epic Games Store Mega Sale is the first major sale the store has done, and it has backfired after Paradox Interactive decided not to participate and pulled its game Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 from the store. We're all used to games releasing at full price but then the price reducing as the game ages, but if they game was already available at a lower price before launch some consumers might question why the game is "worth" paying full price for at all.

Klei Entertainement's early access game Oxygen Not Included has also curiously disappeared from Epic's Store. The studio has since apologized, but this could have all been avoided if Epic was more transparent with the publishers and developers it is hosting. Paradox has pulled its game from Epic's Game Store for the duration of the sale. That's because Paradox has removed the game, apparently in order to keep it out of the Epic Mega Sale that began yesterday.

"If a developer or publisher chooses to not participate in our sales, we will honor that decision", an Epic representative told Kotaku.

Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines 2 will be available to pre-order on the Epic Games store again once the sale has ended. If you've purchased Vampire: "The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 during the period when the discount did apply at the time of check out, Epic will honour that price".

Paradox also provided Kotaku with a statement, saying "We are in discussion with Epic regarding the temporary removal of Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 from the Epic Game Store". That game, however, has since been removed from the store completely.

Supergiant has dropped the price of Hades back to its launch price of $19.99, meaning you can pick it up on Epic's store for $9.99 (£5.49). Are you looking forward to the game? You can't even create a wishlist to inform you of sales prices, something that seems basic by today's standards. "We had meant to raise the retail price of the game soon, but made the decision rashly as part of the sale-we didn't provide advance notice to our customers, despite previously stating we would do so". Titles like Heavy Rain, John Wick Hex, and even Metro Exodus can be picked up for a discount right now. As has been discovered over the last day, a lot of publishers are not happy with Epic dropping a sale out of the blue. "To all our players, thank you for your patience and understanding around this".
