Trump Jr. reaches deal to comply with congressional subpoena

Congressional Democrats think that in his previous turns on Capitol Hill, Trump Jr. may have lied to investigators about that meeting and whether he alerted his father that the meeting would take place.
The Senate intelligence committee subpoenaedDonald Trump Jr. after he backed out of two scheduled interviews as part of the panel's Russian Federation investigation, the chairman of the committee told his Republican colleagues last week as he tried to stem criticism from the move.
The closed-door appearance could cover a broad array of topics, the source said.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had opined that Trump Jr. should refuse the subpoena outright.
The chairman of the Senate intelligence committee says the panel subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. after he backed out of two interviews that were part of its Russian Federation investigation.
"When he originally agreed to testify in front of the Senate Intel Committee in 2017, there was an agreement between Don and the Committee that he would only have to come in and testify a single time as long as he was willing to stay for as long as they'd like, which Don did", the source said. A lawyer for Trump Jr. did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The deal comes less than a week after the committee's initial subpoena inflamed tensions between the GOP-led panel and the White House. But former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who is serving a three-year sentence for tax and bank fraud, stated he briefed Trump family members on the Moscow tower project that never materialized "approximately 10" times.
For the Senate Intelligence Committee to subpoena Mr. Trump's son and "not at least get a heads-up, I thought was - let's say bad form", he said.
Republican Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina described the reason for the subpoena to his Republican colleagues last week as he tried to stem criticism for taking action against President Donald Trump's eldest son. He said he did not know whether the president was also caught by surprise. Michael Cohen is a worthless witness, and if I were Donald Trump Jr.'s lawyer I would tell him, 'You don't need to go back into this environment anymore, you've been there for hours and hours and hours. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has debunked this story. I have no idea why. "And now they want him to testify again", he complained outside the White House.
"None of us tell Chairman Burr how to run his committee", McConnell said. "He's indicated publicly that he believes they will find no collusion and we are hoping to get a report on that subject very soon". Yet, Burr wishes to keep the conspiracy theory wingnuts of the Left thirsty for more when he issued a subpoena for Donald Trump Jr.'s testimony.
