The New Mutants Trailer Breakdown: 8 Things You Need To See

New Mutants trailer will star Maisie Williams

Asked whether fans should expect to see in The New Mutants any X-Men introduced in the previous movies, Boone told IGN, "I can't ... there's some things I can't talk about". This really does look like a self-contained story where Anya Taylor-Joy's Magik, Maisie Williams' Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton's Canonball, Henry Zaga's Sunspot and Blu Hunt's Mirage work their way through a seemingly haunted mutant facility. The teaser dropped a day ago when the movie director, Josh Boone (of The Fault in Our Stars fame), took to Instagram to confirm the teaser.

The upcoming flick will put a horror spin on the X-Men franchise. The cast and crew of New Mutants wrapped filming in early September, after beginning production in July in Boston, Massachusetts, so the movie has had a rather quick production schedule. The film is due to release on April 13th, 2018. On top of that, she actually has a familial connection to the "X-Men": Her brother is Colossus. This isn't your typical superhero movie.

We can't say we saw this one coming.
