D'Amato was a New York State Senator from 1981 to 1999, when he was defeated by Chuck Schumer, who remains in the position today. One passenger was persuaded by D'Amato's speech to leave the plane. Several other passengers booed as he was removed from the flight, and one other passenger followed him off the plane as well, the Post reports. A call to D'Amato, dubbed " Senator Pothole " for his attention to the workaday concerns of his constituents, wasn't immediately returned.
