Toyota Testing Semi-Autonomous Lexus GS on Japanese Highways

The move comes after Toyota a year ago said rather pointedly that "Toyota will not be developing a driverless vehicle". This includes merging onto or exiting highways, maintaining or changing lanes, and maintaining inter-vehicle distances. Toyota also demonstrated another futuristic automated technology called Intelligent Transportation System, which it has been testing on roads in the Toyota city area and Tokyo.
