Two people reportedly stabbed at Mall of America

Multiple people were stabbed inside the Mall of America on Sunday night, leaving families and kids stunned as they waited to see Santa.

The incident occurred when a man confronted 20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman in the dressing room after he allegedly attempted to steal the man's belongings, CBS News reported.

Authorities say at least one person has been stabbed. When the owner of the property confronted him, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. Meanwhile, the suspect is also believed to have been wounded.

Two people were reportedly taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. "By the time we got to the main area - the men's department is to the right - more police started running in with their guns drawn".

He said the others who had come to help were from the same group as the victim and he could not immediately clarify if they were family members.

Macy's was closed Sunday night while police investigated the incident.

Police say the suspect is now in custody.

Police Chief Jeff Potts said, "There have been two adult males that have been taken to the hospital and have what are described as non-life-threatening injuries".
