Union Pacific Railroad will be part of this week's funeral procession for President George H.W. Bush, who died November 30 at the age of 94.

A photo of President George H.W. Bush's service dog lying downbeat beside the casket of his old master on Sunday has spread across social media, causing an outpouring of emotion.

"It was truly an honor to have provided service dog Sully to be by the President's side for the past several months".

The plans for Bush's funeral were all put into place before Trump was ever elected, sources tell CNN.

There will also be a ceremony on arrival of the former president's remains at Joint Base Andrews at 3:30 p.m. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Bush Family during this time of loss. Bush will lie in state in the Capitol starting Monday and a service will be held at the Washington National Cathedral later in the week. Rosalynn Carter will not attend.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will also attend the funeral, an aide to Biden confirms.

"The president and first lady were notified late last night of President George H.W. Bush's passing", Sanders said in the Saturday statement.

Before then, Sully will travel with the coffin as it flies from Mr Bush's home to Washington DC on Monday.

Pallbearers carried Bush's casket from a hearse across the tarmac to a presidential plane commonly known as Air Force One.

My grandfather was the greatest man I ever knew. Bush's family has not said who will speak at the service. "He really does. He was a very special person".

Bush's casket will be on public view until Wednesday morning, when it will be taken to the National Cathedral.

With hands on hearts, members of Bush's cabinet, lawmakers and Supreme Court justices honoured the 41st president as his flag-draped casket entered the Capitol Rotunda.

But Pence says Bush set the standard as "a sound counselor and loyal adviser to an outsider who came to Washington, D.C., to shake things up, cut taxes, rebuild the military, and together they did just that".

George H.W. Bush and the four living ex-presidents gather in the White House shortly after Barack Obama's election. The Supreme Court is delaying arguments by a day for the national day of mourning. The casket will be in a auto with Plexiglas windows to allow people to see it during the trip, according to family spokesman Jim McGrath.

Jim McGrath posted a picture Sunday of the yellow Labrador retriever named Sully with the caption, "Mission complete".

After, he will lie in repose at Houston's St. Martin's Episcopal Church before his remains are transferred via rail to the Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University, where he ultimately will be buried.
