Byron Public School Board Approves 2018-2019 Budget Adjustments

"That is always the measure that I use and if a practice or a program, if a situation that occurs in a school, is not good enough for my babies - it is not good enough for your babies either, and so you have that commitment from me".

If approved, the term limits would begin this year, meaning that school board members running for election or reelection in 2018 would be limited to two terms, each lasting four years, starting this year.

Buehrer also reported one other company that seriously considered bidding for the project did not submit their bid because of it also being 10 percent over the estimate.

"The cost to taxpayers would be minimal", Johnson said.

Woodstock North High School had 942 students in 2017, and Woodstock High School had 1,026, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

"Part of it was that either we misunderstood or we had bad information on what the control aspect of the work was going to cost", Buehrer said.

At a board meeting last week, Bierwirth said the budget process has been hard, with the team having to make adjustments to the district's 2017-18 budget so it would correspond with the proposed 2018-19 spending plan.
