Samsung Bixby May Take Time To Reach The US

A statement issued by Samsung to IBTimes UK read: "All Bixby functionality, bar the Voice Function, will be available to UK customers at launch".

Samsung has revealed that one of the key features of its upcoming Galaxy S8 device will be delayed.

However, the hotly-anticipated smartphone will be missing one of its key new features. Apparently, the English-version of Bixby is expected to be delayed until the end of May, a Samsung spokesperson confirmed that the Bixby voice will be available in the United States until "later this spring".

The company had already explained that Samsung Bixby Voice will not be available worldwide at the time of launch.

The company's widely touted artificial intelligence tool Bixby - seen as a rival for Apple's Siri - won't be fully operational in time for the US release of the Galaxy S8.

While some elements of Bixby will be included in the April 21 launch, the headline voice activation feature won't be available in the US until "later this spring", Samsung said in a statement. Samsung today released a press statement that says Bixby Voice will be available in the U.S. later this spring. It made use of voice commands, unlike other competitors in the market.

Bixby is expected to become more and more capable in the coming months and years as more and more apps feature voice activation.

"In the future you will be able to control your air conditioner or TV through Bixby", Samsung in a press release.

Bixby enters a crowded field of digital assistants powered by artificial intelligence that includes Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, Microsoft Cortana and Amazon's Alexa.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ display with a 1440x2960 pixels resolution.
