Ruthless Warriors romp to National Basketball Association championship

Reliving Kevin Durant’s top-10 playoff moments leading him to the verge of his second NBA title

Yes, James is already arguably the best player in National Basketball Association history and just put together one of the most wonderful postseasons in National Basketball Association history despite getting swept by the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.

Durant scored 20 points while registering a triple-double in the series clincher but his efforts will be remembered mostly for the playoff career-high 43 points he scored in a pivotal Game Three that all but sealed the title.

James, perhaps playing his final game for the Cavaliers, had his least productive outing of the series, recording 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in his eighth consecutive trip to the Finals.

Still tired and wrestling with emotions after losing Game 3 on Wednesday night, when Kevin Durant scored 43 points and shot the Warriors within one win of their third title in four years, James pointed out Thursday what has become terrifyingly obvious.

"Not winning four, but winning Game 4, so that's all we're going to focus on".

"This was the hardest year we've had of the three championships, by far", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. LeBron was removed for good with 4:03 left and after slapping hands with the Warriors, he took a seat as the crowd chanted "M-V-P".

As has been the case since Durant arrived for the 2017 season, the Warriors just had too much All Star talent to be stopped.

One game at a time may be a sports cliche. But since then, he has seen the Cavaliers trade All-Star guard Kyrie Irving to the Celtics, the departure of general manager David Griffin and back-to-back Finals losses to the Warriors. The team does not have much cap space to sign free agents and they lack assets for a significant trade.

In Game 3 of the NBA Finals, it was Kevin Durant who carried the Warriors to victory.

In the home locker room, this might be the final time LeBron James is at the Q in a Cavs uniform. But the loss of Chris Paul to a hamstring injury in the final minute of Game 5 doomed Houston's chances, as Golden State won Games 6 and 7 - despite trailing at halftime of each - to make it back to the Finals.

Durant was voted the best player in this series - and he wants to keep growing.

That trend played out at the worst possible time - with the Warriors turning it up offensively while holding the Wine & Gold to 24 percent shooting in the period.

Let's be totally honest here, did we really think that Embiid wouldn't be the first one to say something to James?

"They move at such a pace, and they have five guys on the floor that can dribble, pass and shoot", Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue said Friday night, a few minutes after the season ended and a few minutes into the Warriors' celebration down the hall. James might have played his final game for the Cavaliers.

"Obviously, I don't have a boxing hand", James said.

'When you have a goal and you're able to accomplish that goal, it actually - for me personally - it made me even more hungry to continue to try to win championships, and I still want to be in championship mode.
