Roberto Firmino charged with drink-driving after Liverpool city centre arrest

Firmino was charged with drink driving on Christmas Eve, ESPN FC reports.

The 25-year-old was stopped by police while driving through Liverpool city centre on Saturday and was subsequently arrested after being found to be over the legal limit.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has been charged with drink driving after he was arrested on Christmas eve.

His court date could prove a problem however as it is scheduled for the same day that Liverpool play title rivals Chelsea at Anfield.

Merseyside Police confirmed that the Brazil worldwide will make a court appearance on the final day of the year - just a few hours before the Reds take on Premier League leaders Chelsea at Anfield.

Firmino has registered five goals and three assists so far this season, as Jurgen Klopp's side sits third on the table ahead of a game against Stoke City tomorrow morning.

"Firmino, from Liverpool, will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 31 2017", the statement added.
