Manchester United's bid to sign Anderson Talisca as an attacking reinforcement in the summer transfer window has ended in defeat.

The Premier League published their released and retained lists on Friday, with United's indicating Fellaini still has an offer to stay at Old Trafford.

Fellaini joined Manchester United back in 2013 from Everton for £27.5m under David Moyes and has played more than 150 games, scoring 20 goals.

Defender Victor Lindelof says that he is continuing to develop as a player, despite a mixed opening campaign at Manchester United.

Pires, however, believes Fellaini would be a good singing for the North London club.

Standing at six feet tall, the former Porto man can play at right or left back easily and is expected to be an important member of Jose Mourinho's squad next season.

"Everybody is thinking me and the manager has a big issue or something, but it's not like that, me and the manager have a flawless relationship", Merson told Sky Sports.

Talisca, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas, has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, most notably Manchester United. Even if he didn't start, he (Unai Emery) could bring him off the bench and if you're chasing a goal, you might have to play a different style of football, go a little bit more direct up to the front, and he's flawless for that. "I think that's very good for players, it's important and you improve a lot day-by-day".
