Robert De Niro Called 'Condescending' After Walking Out of Interview

Film review The Intern is a waste of talent

Anyone in the industry will tell you that actor Robert De Niro isn't the easiest person to interview. It is not forced and it happens organically so I just thought she was more isolated because of her position.

Hathaway, who married actor Adam Shulman in September 2012, also highlights the blatant double standards that continue to exist. But beyond his heavy performances, De Niro is equally adept in comedy roles too. She's initially resistant to the guy-she likes being surrounded by young people like herself, but slowly she takes a shine to Ben, discovering that his calm demeanor and experience are huge helps to her rising startup. This is something I love about the movie.

"I left feeling sorry for everyone involved, including the publicists". I have friends who are 20 and friends who are 83 years old, and I can see it with any of them. But, what was going on with her outfit?!

She hasn't intentionally been avoiding comedy. "I so want to see that movie", she laughs.

Andrew Rannells, who plays Hathaway's colleague, explained that writer-director-producer Nancy Meyers did "a lot of work with One Kings Lane and Gilt Groupe, and she shared a lot of that information with us".

"Maybe it's me thinking the grass is greener in other countries, but here, youth is a very important part of the culture".

"If you have a job and you're a mum, you're going to be perceived that you're not as committed a mother, and if you're a stay-at-home dad, you're considered emasculated in some way".

That last question set off the 72-year-old "Godfather" star, who oddly asked Brockes to turn off her tape recorder. (It's hard to not to think of The Devil Wears Prada, where Hathaway worked for a real nightmare of a boss.) Consequently, Ben's slow buildup of trust with Jules, first becoming her driver and then developing into a trusted adviser, isn't particularly difficult.

"If the movie works and everybody sees it, then they'll be more interested in making other movies like that. I feel like everybody buys all of their everyday goods from the Internet", he said, adding that entrepreneurs should take notice of the film's fictional retailer. In terms of collaboration I admired her, but now that I made a movie with her, it's beyond that.

Speaking of the interview afterwards the journalist told: "I have sympathy with De Niro because nobody wants to be there for these choreographed junket interviews". I felt like it was a true collaboration.
