University officials and the Madison County sheriff's office identified the students as Cathryn "Carey" Depuy and Ryan Adams, both 18-year-old freshmen from Ridgefield. At first, emergency responders had trouble finding the crash, Morrisville Fire Chief Rick Gorton told Syracuse Media Group. Police said the area of the crash scene is in a heavily wooded area and is located only about one-half mile from Old Country Road.

Ryan's mother, Mary Lou Adams, took the stage and spoke of her son's unfailing character to the close knit community of hamilton.

Ball said members of the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to start investigating the Morrisville crash this morning.
