Scarborough and co-host Willie Geist pointed out for "Morning Joe" viewers that Trump made a voting plea on behalf of Virginia Republicans and backed GOP Kentucky governor Matt Bevin, who as of Wednesday morning, appeared to have lost to Democratic challenger Andy Beshear. Grimes says she's seen more than 20 recanvases, including Gov. Bevin's narrow 83-vote primary win in 2015, and she's never seen the outcome change.

Mr Beshear said his victory sent a message: "That our values, and how we treat each other is still more important than our party".

"My expectation is that he (Bevin) will honor the election that was held tonight", Beshear said. "We are going to take the steps to move forward to make sure that we are ready. on the day that we're inaugurated". "You can't let that happen to me!", said Trump to the audience. "Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted that Bevin 'was down 17 points" and Trump 'helped lift the entire ticket, winning 5 of 6 statewide races so far!'

The other governor's race on the ballot on Tuesday was in deeply conservative Mississippi.

"We want the process to be followed, and there is a process", he said.

Bevin's campaign officially requested a recanvass of vote totals Wednesday afternoon.

Trump now heads to Louisiana to continue campaigning ahead of a runoff election for governor.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during a rally in Lexington, Ky., on Monday. "Last night, 710,000 people voted for Andy Beshear". Bevin was in lockstep with Trump, as was Reeves in Mississippi. He exploited Bevin's feud with teachers over pensions and education issues, which resonated with voters. Among those with an especially keen interest: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who's on the ballot himself next year in Kentucky.

"I'm here to officially declare today, November 5, 2019, that Virginia is officially blue", Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam told a crowd of supporters in Richmond. Cameron said in the campaign that his priorities as attorney general would be to tackle Kentucky's opioid epidemic and crimes against children, in addition to ensuring Kentucky does not become a so-called "sanctuary state" for undocumented immigrants.

Meanwhile, in Virginia, Democrats overturned Republican majorities in both chambers of the state legislature.

He must contest the election to receive a recount of the votes. Gun control and clean energy groups affiliated with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spent several million dollars helping Democrats.

"Before Donald Trump went to Kentucky on that last night and had those stupid shirts that had "Read the transcript" printed up ... his party lost the biggest landslide vote loss in the history of the United States Republican 2018 for following him blindly", Scarborough outlined.

But in Washington, where Republicans are expected to ardently defend Trump when the first public hearings in the impeachment inquiry open next week, GOP lawmakers are unlikely to alter their approach, at least in the short term.

Virginia's Democratic gains came despite a year of scandal for the party's top officials in the state.

It didn't. Instead the trend in Virginia that started in 2017 continued through 2019.
