Real Madrid to sign Porto's Militao in 50m euros deal

A statement on the club's website said: "Real Madrid CF and FC Porto have agreed the transfer of the player Eder Militao, who will be linked to the club during the next six seasons, until June 30, 2025".

The Frenchman returned to the club earlier this week to replace sacked boss Santiago Solari, ending speculation that Mourinho could be heading for a second spell in charge at the Bernabeu. But already the club are moving to improve their squad as they look to close the gap on rivals Barcelona and Atletico.

"The defender, who will join next season, is 21 years old and is an worldwide with the Brazilian team".

Football fans will be able to catch a glimpse of Militao in the Champions League quarter-finals this season, after Porto advanced to the last eight with an extra-time win over Roma in the last 16. Spanish outlet Marca reported this week that the release clause would rise by 50 percent to €75m if a deal is not completed by July 15.

Although naturally a centre-back, he has the technical ability necessary to also be successful at right-back and at defensive-midfield.

Militao was previously signed from Sao Paulo where he played in the 2017/18 season.

He has scored three goals and picked up two assists in 34 appearances for the Portuguese side, with his displays catching the eye of Madrid.
