Adityanath's remarks came hours before the CBI arrested BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused in the case, after questioning him through the day. Sengar's arrest became imminent following a massive, nationwide outrage against the Unnao and Kathua rape cases.
The CBI team also met the victim at a hotel in Unnao where she is put up under police protection.
Meanwhile, Allahabad High Court today called for Sengar's arrest and said that mere detention is not enough. The rape victim attempted suicide outside UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence which created a sensation.
On Friday, the CBI detained Sengar in connection with the case.
They are accused of taking the victim's father illegally to the police station where he was beaten up by them along with Atul and Sengar's aides.
Sengar's brother Atul was arrested in relation to the case on Tuesday - the fifth person to be arrested.
"As soon as the matter came to the notice of the government on April 9, we immediately constituted a Special Investigation Team and initiated action in the matter.the policemen and doctors found guilty in the SIT report were suspended", he told reporters in Chitrakoot.
Sengar, a four-time MLA, enjoys an vast clout, cutting across party lines, in the rural areas of Unnao district, a semi-urban area at a distance of about 70 km from Lucknow. Unnao legislator Sengar is now being interrogated at the CBI office, but has not been arrested yet.
But the MLA alleges that the girl had been tutored to build a rape case against him following a family dispute over village supremacy, and her abduction a year ago and that the survivor and her kin pressed for his arrest for fear of destruction of evidence.
"We have referred the matter to the CBI.our government will not compromise on the zero-tolerance policy it has followed against crime and corruption since the beginning". The police have registered a case against the MLA in several streams including POCSO. According to the post-mortem report, he had suffered serious injuries.
Previously the victim's father died in judicial custody nearly a week after he was reportedly thrashed by the MLA's brother and others.
