Ramon Calderon: Chelsea won’t let Real Madrid have Eden Hazard cheaply
Jun 02 2019
He most likely played his final game for the Blues in their 4-1 victory against Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku on Wednesday.
Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has no qualms about Eden Hazard leaving the club for Real Madrid, adamant the winger has earned such a move through his dedication to the Blues.
In principle, Real Madrid's idea is to close the transfer with Chelsea on Thursday and announce the signing on Saturday, to present Eden Hazard at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday 3rd June, before he goes on vacation.
"But I think he has been very honest until the last day".
"He wasn't playing for Chelsea but despite that they said the price was 35 million, which at the time was a lot of money - now it's peanuts".
"It's Hazta La Vista", wrote the Sun in characteristic style while The Guardian and The Times settled for "Hazard's golden goodbye" and the Daily Mail lingered over the player's post-match "goodbye kiss" to Chelsea fans in the Baku stands.
But for the media, it's already a done deal bringing to an end Hazard's astonishing seven-year stint in the Premier League.
Townsend told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport: "That's the one area when you're talking about a Galactico - which he's probably going to become - the [Cristiano] Ronaldo's and [Lionel] Messi's of this world score 50 and 60 a season".
"I think Eden did an unbelievable job, had an awesome time with Chelsea".
"Next year Chelsea will play in the Champions League, surely without you".
Since moving to England in 2012, Hazard has won two Premier League titles, two Europa League titles, the FA Cup, and the League Cup.
The defender gave a hint on where his future may lie after leaving Stamford Bridge.
"That's what you have to do when you are the owner or the president of a club and a player says that he wants to leave".
"I tried to reduce it many times and we waited until the last minute but finally we paid it. Callum has known this club since he was young and he has the talents to one day try to be like Eden", he said.
