Raiders QB Derek Carr looks for success vs. Chiefs

Derek Carr #4 of the Oakland Raiders is sacked by Dee Ford #55 of the Kansas City Chiefs during their NFL game at Oakland Alameda County Coliseum

Holding Oakland's No.3 scoring offense to 10 points, Kansas City gave up 21 points in a win over the New Orleans Saints, holding the NFL's second-highest scoring offense to eight points fewer than its season average.

This season, Mack is third on the team with 58 total tackles (42 solo), while also leading the team with 10.0 sacks, an interception, a defensive touchdown, four forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.

The second-place team in the AFC West is nearly certain to earn one of the two wild-card spots, and it's very possible two wild-card teams could make it from this division.

The Chiefs don't look at their success against Carr and the Raiders as a chain of related events. The Chiefs are led by quarterback Alex Smith.

The Raiders aren't used to playing in cold-weather conditions too often, but that will be the case on Thursday night as it will be about -9 Celsius in Kansas City at night. Getting to 10-6 seems like a 50-50 proposition with that schedule. Their inability to live up to market expectations coupled with the potential to "pack in the season" suggests this team remain "bet against" rather than "bet on". He was visibly frustrated after this tough divisional loss.

The Kansas City Chiefs are winning games in thrilling fashion. "We worked a lot on it in the offseason", Carr said of the pistol. Here's three things the Raiders must do to beat the Chiefs.

The Ravens lead the Steelers in the North on a tiebreaker, and they've won four of their last five games. After touchdowns on the first to drives of the second half for the Bills, Oakland were on the wrong end of a 24-9 scoreline. Spencer Ware was a big reason for this lopsided time of possession battle.

In Dallas, it's the Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott show, with that rookie quarterback and running back commanding the attention behind a rock-solid wall of blockers.

The Oakland Raiders are in cruise control when it comes to the postseason.

The Buffalo Bills playoff hopes have come to a crashing halt.

On the other side of the ball, Latavius Murray must continue to run the football well. Carr has become the first player in National Football League history to throw five game-winning touchdown passes in the fourth quarter or overtime in a season.

Here's Travis Kelce modeling this year's version of the uniform.

Although he only had three catches for 32 yards in his first meeting against the Raiders, he was often covered by safety Karl Joseph.

The victor of Thursday night's game will take control of first place in the AFC West.

The only question mark appears to be wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who has been out with a groin injury. The Chiefs will wear their all-red uniforms. The Bills just lost to the Raiders and the Patriots would fall to the Broncos in week 15. They are 5-0 on the road and won back-to-back games against Jacksonville and Tampa Bay (while practicing all week in Florida), the second of which went almost a full overtime in humidity. Fans now have the expectations of nothing less than the Super Bowl.
