Osbon and Bunkowske's story has now gone viral, reaching millions of people across the country since it was posted to WKRN's Facebook page Tuesday night. Many people weighed in to celebrate management professor Joel Bunkowske's generosity, including some mothers who shared their own stories of juggling family life with efforts to get ahead professionally.
Amanda Osborn studies at DeVry University in south Nashville. "I broke down. My classmates started hugging me", Osbon told on Wednesday. When she brought her son Xzavier to class as usual on Monday, and Xzavier decided he had plans other than sitting nicely during the lecture.
It was then that Xzavier began walking around the classroom at Devry University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bunkowske said Osbon is "the best", a 4.0 student. Unable to afford daycare, she has paid a private babysitter to watch her son.
Osbon is a U.S. Army veteran who is using the G.I. Bill to help pay for her tuition. What was this woman thinking?
Thankful Osbon said the accommodating academic's actions were'amazing patient and kind
At first Osbon said it was slightly embarrassing, but noted how, "amazing, patient and kind", the professor was with her son. "He's an amazing person; he's just wonderful", she explained.
"This professor deserves a huge round of applause!" "It boggled my mind".
"Most of us in the class are parents, so everyone was very understanding that he was there", Osbon wrote.
