Knicks hire brother of Michelle Obama to oversee player development

Robinson had been with the Bucks since 2015.

He is expected to serve in a variety of capacities, including player development and as part of the group running the Westchester Knicks of the National Basketball Association G-League, whose general manager is Allan Houston.

The Vertical first reported Robinson's hiring.

Here's what Robinson is expected to do with the Knicks.

During his years as a college coach, Robinson was an open supporter of Barack Obama in his first bid for the presidency and then his re-election, and he introduced Michelle Obama at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

He is the latest addition to a Knicks front office that has been majorly revamped over the past month-and-a-half. Robinson has coaching and executive experience on the college and professional levels.

The 55-year-old was a renowned player from 1979-83 at Princeton University, where he was a two-time Ivy League Player of the Year.

Robinson has also held positions as head coach for the Brown Bears and Oregon State Beavers, and as assistant coach for the Northwestern Wildcats. Owner James Dolan began the process by parting ways with team president Phil Jackson, and recently promoted president Steve Mills has built upon that decision.
