Both the parties discussed issues relating to bilateral relationships as well as the peace and stability in Afghanistan.
"Abbasi claimed that Pakistan has never billed the USA forces for ground or air logistics across its territory".
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi blamed the Indian security forces for committing atrocities in Kashmir and asked the world community to take a note of it. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further mentioned that the two neighbors must engage on core issues and he wants normal relation with India. Prime Minister further said that we would want to work with U.S. in every department. "So, if they want to do economic assistance that's their prerogative, but we don't accept or see any role politically or militarily for India in Afghanistan", Abbasi said.
When questioned if he foresees any business role of India in Afghanistan Abbasi replied that India has earlier also invested in Afghanistan and it if the country wishes it can do it again.
The process is yet to complete, but indications from different levels of government point towards an existing consensus that there is no other option, but to stay engaged with US.
"If Pakistan has not done enough in the war against terror, then no country in the world has done enough", the army chief had said while addressing the participants at the event commemorating Defence Day. I think it will just complicate the situation and it will not resolve anything.
Trump administration had in July made a decision to block $350 million in coalition support fund to Pakistan after denying that Islamabad had taken "sufficient actions" against Haqqani terror network. We have destroyed the sanctuaries.
During the meeting, the PM said "There is a need to appoint a special envoy on Kashmir, as India has closed all doors on any dialogue". "And today the cross-border incursions, if they happen, are from Afghanistan into Pakistan to attack our forces", Abbasi asserted. He said Pakistan can not condone drone strikes to any targets in Pakistan.
Speaking during the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, President Trump said "It is time to expose and hold responsible those countries who support and finance terror groups like Al Qaida, Hezbollah, the Taliban and others that slaughter innocent people". "In the recent by-election, a candidate did use his picture in an election poster, which is illegal to do, and action will be taken against him by the election commission". He said that the Pakistanis had defeated terrorism on their own soil and intend to continue the same in future also.
