Philadelphia Weather: What Types Of Precipitation To Expect During Winter Storm Sunday

In addition to the coast-to-coast storms, there is an enhanced thunderstorm warning for the Southeast, the National Weather Service said.

Heavier snow and higher accumulations are expected in New York City and western areas of the region.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the metro until noon Sunday.

Travel could be very hard, the weather service said.

Monday Night: Temperatures plummet toward the teens overnight, refreezing any of that water from snow melt.

In Kansas, the weather service said northwestern parts of the state could see up to 8 inches of snow. The storm is expected to hit Saturday evening and continue into Sunday.

Precipitation will begin as rain across eastern Long Island this afternoon and change over to snow in the evening, according to the forecast.

Forecasters are predicting between three and six inches of snow for most of the state.

The rest of the day Monday will see increasing sunshine.
