Pep Guardiola 'taught a lesson' in first year at Manchester City

Eden Hazard declared "we are almost there" as Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte targeted six wins in the final eight games to clinch the Premier League title.

Boss Antonio Conte admitted after the victory over City that he felt six wins from the Blues' remaining eight matches would be enough to see them crowned champions.

"You always have the pressure if they win, [and if they] lose or draw you have the good pressure", he explained.

"The best thing for us to think is that Tottenham could win eight games so to win the title we need 18 points".

Guardiola says "polite" Man City was not part of a tunnel row after defeat at Chelsea Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola shrugged off suggestions his "so polite" side were involved in a heated row with Chelsea's stars following a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge.

"We'll try to win as many as possible".

Pep Guardiola added that City will put all their energy into securing a place in next season's Champions League by finishing in the top four.

Liverpool could have stamped our authority on the chase, but foolishly conceded late on against the Cherries, who we'd dominated all game. "It is insane how the goals came in the last few minutes but we pushed and we created chances to win".

"He's an important player and also he's growing in his mentality", Conte said.

"I never thought I arrived here that I knew absolutely everything".

Even when City crushed Steaua Bucharest in a Champions League play-off in August, Guardiola felt his side were short of the required standard.

"We've got great attacking players and they've been great all season, but we fell short".

The one time the division was won with 82 points - by Manchester United in 1995-96, its first year with only 20 teams - they had a positive goal difference of 38. "I was expecting from the beginning of the season to fight for the Premier League until the end. I don't believe in mind games".

"The most important thing for [Ilkay] Gundogan is to recover well - it is not easy after six months out with the knee injury", he said of the midfielder, who suffered a torn knee ligament in December.

"Maybe after all the work we have done, one day we will start to be rewarded for the way we play football".

"I like the way Hull play".
