Pelicans forward Anthony Davis will better know the extent of his groin injury once the team examines him in New Orleans on Sunday, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Minnesota responded by finishing the half on a 17-6 run to take a 62-49 lead into the halftime locker room.
Davis, a four-time All-Star now in his sixth National Basketball Association season, had never been ejected from a game previously. Davis was listed as doubtful to return, and he would not re-enter the game.
Davis has a long history of injuries, but he played 75 games last season while staying relatively healthy.
Pelicans management have not issued a statement on the fine. Fifteen seconds later, he picked up his second tech and was ejected for the first time in his six-year National Basketball Association career. Any extended absence will put a lot of pressure on his teammates to maintain their 11-10 start, which now would make the Pelicans the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
