Paul Pogba transfer rumors: Barcelona or Manchester United?

Alderweireld

The Foxes spent the summer upgrading their defense, signing Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira to shore up a defense that allowed 60 goals last season, the fifth most in the Premier League.

United have made it clear they are not interested in selling Pogba, however, and as long as the player shows no signs of being unhappy, they will not consider any bid for him.

It's reported by The Sun that United were actually prepared to shell out £100m for French World Cup victor Varane, but Real Madrid were not interested in selling.

"Last season he was captain a few times", Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"If you compare with Europe, you are at a complete disadvantage and it does not help the clubs in the Premier League", Pochettino said on Spurs' tour of the United States. He's in the group of players who didn't have a pre season, it's as simple as that.

Now it looks like no new arrivals will be heading to Old Trafford in this window.unless Mourinho has something up his sleeve. You have to try your best to get points and even with the difficulties that we had with our pre-season, now I don't think is the time to be speaking about that. On the other hand, a couple of their big names were linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

"It's time just to say "tomorrow we have a Premier League match" and we have to play to win it". Unlike the majority of the United side, Sanchez enjoyed a full preseason and will be raring to go.

United's top brass want to follow City by "developing young talents instead of going for big-money older stars" that Mourinho prefers.

United contacted Atletico Madrid about Diego Godin but it quickly became evident that the move was a no-go, while an official offer was not made for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld. While Jose Mourinho and the transfer until 5pm to buy in new players, their players can be bought or loaned after the deadline. The Barcelona boss is looking for a player who can lead his midfield and believes the French International could step into the boots.

What lies ahead for Jose and United?

Ogden writes: "Not for the first time in his managerial career, the story has become about Mourinho rather than the club where he's now in charge; it is rarely a signpost toward a positive and successful future when that happens".
