With the Deadpool movie about to win its third weekend at the box office and a sequel already in the works, some fans are wondering if 20th Century Fox is also looking at a potential Deadpool crossover with the X-Men film franchise. While Fox hasn't yet announced an official release date, there have been rumors that Deadpool 2 would take Fantastic Four 2's planned date of June 9, 2017 since that movie is never gonna happen.
Rhett Reese, the other writer for the film also said that technically a team up between the character and the rest of the X-Men is three decades off. This is due to the fact that the current X-Men series is set back in the 1980s, while Deadpool is set in the present day which is a 30 year difference.
When The Playlist caught up with Reese and Wernick, they asked about X-Force, and what kind of involvement they would have. "I think everything that Deadpool is involved in we will have a hand in and it's a universe that Ryan [Reynolds] and us are very close to and very protective of, so I do think we would absolutely involved in that franchise as well". "But ['X-Men' producer] Simon [Kingberg's] more the keeper of that universe and maybe we'll see more X-Men playing in Deadpool's sandbox and probably Deadpool playing in their sandbox at some point". After Days of Future Past, the original X-Men timeline essentially faded away into Wolverine's memory.
The site doesn't provide any more details and obviously we can't put too much stock in this for the time being - but it does make sense that this character would be introduced alongside Cable, as it lays the groundwork for an X-Force movie down the line.
Cable's entire history in the Marvel universe is dependent on time travel. Would you want a crossover with the X-Men?
According to Heroic Hollywood, Domino will be one of the new mutants (no pun intended) added to the roster of superheroes in Deadpool 2.
