Nintendo Switch Online release date finally revealed

Nintendo is rolling out its Switch Online service next week

Nintendo has just announced via social media that the Direct will indeed air tomorrow, September 13th. The service, which was announced shortly after the Switch itself, will go live on September 18. The livestream will last about 35 minutes and provide more information on upcoming Switch and 3DS titles as well as the Nintendo Switch Online service.

You'll be able to play Super Mario Bros.

There will be three options of purchase, including a 1-month membership that will cost $3.99 USD, a 3-month that will be $7.99 USD, and a 12-month subscription that will be $19.99 USD. The family membership plan, which will allow the account holder to invite up to seven others to join the family group, has one tier priced at $34.99 for 12 months.

As an important aside, Nintendo Accounts will be permanently linked to Nintendo Switch user accounts after the Nintendo Switch firmware update. Notice how the words "Nintendo Switch Online" are nowhere to be found.

Nintendo Switch Online will also give subscribers the ability to back up their save data in the cloud.

Nintendo revealed this morning that its next Nintendo Direct presentation has been rescheduled for tomorrow, September 13.
