PSG players celebrate win against Monaco

PSG, who netted four goals in the opening half-hour, have 87 points with five games remaining and lead second-placed Monaco by 17 points after doubles by Giovani Lo Celso and Angel Di Maria, goals by Edison Cavani and Julian Draxler and a Radamel Falcao own goal.

Playing at the Parc des Princes against the team who denied them the title a year ago was the ideal occasion for PSG, owned by big-spenders Qatar Sports Investments since 2011, to wrap up their fifth title in the Qatari era. They can't play in one club.

Rony Lopes scored in the first half for Monaco but by that point, it was 4-1 to PSG, with Unai Emery's side proceeding to run out comfortable winners. "Perhaps he'll have time to play a few matches before the end of the season". Cavani was soon involved for the better in the 14th minute, as he cleverly fed Dani Alves into the area and the Brazilian set up Lo Celso for an easy finish.

Monaco started with plenty of energy but nearly fell behind inside nine minutes when Cavani collected at the back post, only to drag his volley across the face of goal and wide. Monaco had no answer to PSG's brilliance and Di Maria added a third after just 20 minutes, the winger racing on to Cavani's pass and outrageously scooping the ball over the helpless Danijel Subasic.

Seven minutes later, after a one-two with Cavani, Pastore whipped a flawless cross that Lo Celso headed home.

Monaco briefly held up the onslaught as Lopes turned home an Almamy Toure cross seven minutes before half-time for the in-form Portugal international's 13th goal this term.

Neymar has already started work in the gym to prepare for the World Cup, which starts June 14.

Monaco's first-half humiliation did not stop there, however, as youngster Lo Celso headed home his second of the night after profiting from an adroit one-two between Draxler and Javier Pastore on the left wing.
