Neymar banned for three matches for lashing out at fan

The Brazilian appeared to jab at a spectator who tried to record him on his mobile phone as he went up to collect his runners-up medal

PSG's Neymar reacts after missing a scoring chance during the French League One soccer match between Paris Saint-Germain and Nice at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, France, Saturday, May 4, 2019.

The French Football Federation have now announced that the world's most expensive player will be forced to miss three domestic matches, with a further two matches suspended.

Neymar's suspension will begin on Monday after Sunday's (AEST) Ligue 1 meeting with Angers, meaning he will be unable to feature against Dijon and Reims in the final games of the campaign. The final match he will miss will be the Trophee des Champions clash against Rennes on August 3, which pits the Ligue 1 victor against the victor of the Coupe de France.

The update on Neymar's future comes from El Confidencial, who claim that the Brazilian's representatives have been working tirelessly for a number of days to try find any possible way of leaving the club.

Since leaving Barcelona in 2017, Neymar has never made it past the last 16 in the Champions League, and he was forced to watch his team fall to Manchester United this season from the sidelines after suffering a foot injury.

According to the Associated Press, PSG players Gianluigi Buffon and Marco Verratti also were verbally abused by the same fan, though they ignored him.

Meanwhile, Neymar has appealed against another ban, this time a three-match Champions League ban imposed by European football´s governing body UEFA.

A fan appeared to antagonise Neymar before he lashed out.

Neymar swung at an abusive opposing fan while climbing the steps to receive his French Cup final losers medal following the shock defeat to Rennes on penalties last month.
