She said Neymar arrived "apparently drunk" at the hotel and described to police that they "touched each other, but in a given moment, Neymar became aggressive and, with violence, had sexual intercourse against the victim's will". "It is a "heavy" word, it is something very strong, but that's what's happening now", he said.

"This is not true, he has never committed any crime", said Neymar Santos, arguing that his son was a victim of blackmail.

The incident comes after Brazil confirmed manager Tite's decision to drop Neymar as captain and appoint Alves ahead of the Copa America.

The Brazilian football star, Neymar, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Paris.

She claimed he then suggested they meet in Paris, where he plays for Paris St Germain (PSG).

The woman said she flew back to Brazil on May 17 because she was too shaken up and afraid to file a police complaint in another country.

The police document said the woman will go through medical exams as part of an investigation.

He returned to a full training for the first time since Tuesday at the Granja Comary training ground outside Rio de Janeiro.

The 27-year-old forward has been stripped of the captaincy of Brazil, following recent disciplinary issues.

The accusation was the latest blow for Neymar, who last month was stripped of the captaincy of the national team and has seen his worldwide reputation suffer amid incidents of indiscipline.

The Paris Saint-Germain star says he is in good shape for the tournament which begins in two weeks.

The footballer's father, Neymar dos Santos, told Band TV in Brazil on Saturday that "it is clear that it was a trap".

Off the pitch, Brazilian fans' love for the player has also been stained following his showing of support to far-right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who has made a series of racist, misogynistic and anti-gay statements.
