Not only does March, most importantly, bring the Madness of the college basketball conference and NCAA tournaments, but nearly every college and pro sport that I keep up with is competing. Scrutiny will increase during the conference tournament. The Atlantic Coast Conference opens Tuesday.

The NCAA tournament will start next week.

"Having a team that goes on a 19-game win streak and still loses the Big Ten regular season and tournament is just typical Purdue".

This past Saturday, Duke beat their biggest rival, the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The unanimous Big 12 Player of the Year actually has much to play for as Kansas embarks on their tournament journey. They may be done in the ACC Tournament but their NCAA hopes aren't over yet.

The NCAA is throwing a changeup this season, likely a reaction to the full bracket being leaked two years ago before the show and complaints about how long it took to get the pairings announced around commercials.

The big boy power conference tournaments are now under way, so these bubble teams may drop like flies or rise into the tournament field. And Villanova swept the regular-season series. It's an excruciating wait until the bracket is announced this weekend because the Big Ten tourney ended Sunday after being moved up a week earlier than normal in order to play at Madison Square Garden in NY. And one - maybe both? - could end up earning No. 1 NCAA seeds.

Louisville, which defeated MI in the '13 title game, was the last conference postseason victor (Big East at the time) to capture the NCAA championship.

Every year, however, reminders spring up about why conference tournaments are a problematic way to give away an NCAA Tournament berth. The Jayhawks face the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State victor in Thursday's quarterfinals.

No. 14 Texas Tech, the second seed, opens play against the Iowa State-Texas victor, while No. 18 West Virginia faces bubble team Baylor to wrap up the quarterfinals.

ESPN predicts Gonzaga to enter as a No. 12 seed in the tournament as WWC champs. The Wildcats will face the Arizona State-Colorado victor in Thursday's quarterfinals as the only AP Top 25 team in the field. Make sure to tune in to Selection Sunday on March 11 to find out which teams made this year's tournament, and don't forget to fill out your bracket before the first round begins on March 15. No. 13 Tennessee and No. 16 Auburn shared the regular-season title, though the Tigers claimed the No. 1 seed. Teams they have on the outside looking in are Alabama, Marquette, Baylor, Providence, Mississippi State, Syracuse and LSU.

We need more people like the Mark Adams and Dan Mullers of the world to speak out for the Mid-Major, with efforts in generating a level playing field for all NCAA College basketball teams.

Kansas (24-7) has won or shared the last 14 Big 12 regular-season titles, a feat that seems impossible considering the roster turnover that occurs in college basketball.

Oklahoma (11 seed)- Oklahoma is in trouble, as a game with Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Tournament could eliminate them from the tournament field.

Kentucky has been the perennial powerhouse of the SEC in recent years, winning the last three conference tournaments. The top-seeded Bearcats open in Friday's quarterfinals against the SMU-Connecticut victor, while the second-seeded Shockers face the Tulane-Temple victor. Dan Muller, head coach of the Illinois State Redbirds expressed his frustrations following his team's NCAA tournament snub last season. The Cougars face the East Carolina-UCF victor.
