Narendra Modi unveils Statue of Swami Vivekananda in Kuala Lumpur

The way PM Modi has been received here shows there is a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness: Ram Madhav came in Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, he proceeded to unveil the 4m high bronze statue of the great Indian spiritual leader in his famous pose photographed during the Parliament of the World's Religions in 1893 in Chicago, United States.
The Prime Minister was welcomed by Modi, who was welcomed by Swami Supriyananda who heads the mission here, also released a book on yoga and wellness by yoga teacher Ajay Sahoo. His speech was translated into English. Will inaugurate a statue of Swami Vivekananda & later interact with Indian community at 6 PM (3:30 PM IST).
Modi pointed out that like Vivekananda, Ramakrishna Paramahansa was also not looking for a disciple, he was searching for truth.
Braving heavy monsoon rains, the crowd cheered as PM Modi unveiled the statue.
It was pursuit of truth that got Ramakrishna Paramhans and Swami ji together. "He personifies the thousands-year-old Indian culture and civilisation", Modi said in HIndi after paying floral tributes at the sage's statue. "It is about the aatma (soul) of India", a tweet by Prime Minister's Office quoting Modi said.
Claiming that Vivekananda was also behind the concept of "One Asia", the Indian PM said, "It was Swami Vivekananda who first gave the concept of One Asia that ASEAN is speaking of today". "According to him Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva", he added. During a visit to Kolkata, some youngsters asked Vivekananda how they could find God.
"We started with Upanishads, we have perhaps reached satellites".
