A MI mother will spend a few days in prison after she declined to get her son vaccinated.
"You agreed in a consent order to vaccinate your child", the judge said.
Bredow was found in contempt of court, and McDonald said the boy would be vaccinated today based on the November 2016 agreement made between the woman and her ex-husband.
She had one week to comply with a judge's order to get her child his shots, or she could go to jail. Bredow's case first made headlines last week after her ex-husband took her to court over her refusal to vaccinate their son, despite agreeing to do so in November 2016, Fox 2 Detroit reported.
Rebecca Bredow had a hearing in Pontiac on Wednesday to decide if she will go to jail for refusing to vaccinate her son.
Bredow said she opted for waivers available under MI state law, which allows for vaccine exemption based on religious, personal or medical beliefs.
Child immunisation rates in MI are also among the worst in the U.S., ranking 43rd out of the 50 states, according to Mlive.
Oakland County Court Judge Karen McDonald said that even though Bredow was the child's primary caregiver: "Dad gets a say".
For that reason, many anti-vaccine parents choose to home-school their children, Mrs Fisher told the BBC.
Bredow and the child's father had made the decision to get their child vaccinated when he was born, but space them out, delaying some.
According to ABC News the couple separated soon afterwards, in 2008, but they shared parental custody and the dad still wanted the boy to have his jabs.
