Minecraft Finally Coming to New 3DS, Available Now
Sep 15 2017
Minecraft for 3DS will only be available for devices of the New Nintendo 3DS family and its world will be bigger than that of the Wii U version - 2016×2016 and 128 blocks high. Developer Mojang's seminal pixel-art sandbox game has made its way to pretty much every other gaming platform out there, from Windows Phones to Oculus Rift headsets to even single-board Raspberry Pi computers. This version of the game features both Survival and Creative modes of Minecraft.
During Nintendo Direct live stream last night, Nintendo announced that Minecraft is now available for the Nintendo 3DS handheld. The release comes in two stages: a digital version available now at the eShop and a physical game card that will be sold at retail stores at an unspecified later date.
Considering that the 3DS is now six years old, it's rather unbelievable that a game as popular as Minecraft is only now coming to the system. Play in Creative Mode with unlimited resources or mine deep into the world in survival mode, crafting weapons and armor to fend off the unsafe mobs.
"Multiplayer won't be available at launch but we will be adding local multiplayer in a future update".
