The movie, written by Gulzar and Bhavani Iyer, also stars Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat, but is a Bhatt show all the way. Raazi earned Rs 7.53 crore on Friday, and this increased by nearly 50 per cent to bring in a second day box office collection of Rs 11.30 crore.
Raazi saw a minimal drop on its Monday as compared to its opening day which is only 16.33 percent. And in its opening weekend, the film did business in India to the tune of Rs 32.94 crore.
Here's the list of top five films that earned the maximum during the opening weekend. He said that strong word of the mouth publicity helped the film to mint big moolah within three days. The collection witnessed a jump on Saturday, recording Rs 11.30 crore, and recorded a further hike on Sunday when it earned Rs 14.11 crore.
What has to be seen though is how well does the Alia Bhatt starrer capitalize now from this point on? "India biz", Taran Adrash tweeted, adding that if the film 'holds on strong levels on weekdays and beyond, ' it will emerge a super-hit. Trade analysts say the Meghna Gulzar directed spy thriller had made close to Rs30 crore from ancillary streams of revenue, like satellite, digital and music rights and recovered 75% of its investment pre-release itself.
When Alia Bhatt was asked about the overwhelming response to her character "Sehmat" and the film, she was quoted saying, "I didn't expect this kind of response. I think audience mindsets have changed and they are happy to go out and watch well-told, relevant films that may not be the typical star-driven vehicles", said film trade and exhibition expert Girish Johar. Touted as the best actress of this generation, Alia has proved her mettle over time not just with masala roles but also with films like Highway, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi amongst others.
