Major League Baseball announces new format for voting in the All-Star Game
Jun 01 2019
The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is the latest in a growing line of major sporting events held in metro Atlanta following the 2018 College Football Playoff national championship game and the 2019 Super Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which also hosted the decisive match in Atlanta United's MLS Cup championship.
Fans will once again have the opportunity to participate in the official voting for the Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet.

Fans now will vote twice for the All-Star starters. The Cleveland Indians will welcome the 90th All-Star Game to Progressive Field on July 9, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will host the 2020 Midsummer Classic at Dodger Stadium, the first at the historic ballpark since 1980.
Major League Baseball's brightest stars will be heading to the deep south.
Once the voting concludes the players with the three highest totals at each position will be announced that evening on MLB Network. Balloting began at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
The Primary voting phase runs May 28 through 3 p.m. CT on June 21.
Fans choose their favorites, with the top three at each position (nine outfielders per league) moving on to the final round, called The Starters Election.
The full rosters will be announced on June 30. Searching "MLB Vote" on Google will take fans to the ballot, which also can be cast via MLB.com and multiple MLB mobile apps.
"I think this is going to be one of those events that is a defining moment in time for us to showcase SunTrust Park and (adjacent mixed-use development) The Battery Atlanta in front of a worldwide audience", Braves president and CEO Derek Schiller said in an interview Wednesday.
Manfred said the Braves' bid was chosen over "a list of 10 teams waiting in line for All-Star games". The downside to a two-stage format is that some fans might feel their votes don't mean enough during the Primary round.
