Jose Mourinho has only been out of a job for a few weeks, but he is already set to return to our television screens.

The source added: "There has been no contact, but they did get in touch with Jose after Lopetegui was dismissed, but he told them he was the manager of Manchester United and totally committed to the club".

But, Mourinho could indeed be primed for a quick return to club football management, with one of his former clubs showing an interest in him.

For now, Santiago Solari seems to have his future up in the air, with Real Madrid in talks with former manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho said he was happy at being linked with a return, but prefers not to be talked about in public about when out of work.

"Jose is one of the greatest football managers of all time, and we hope that his expert analysis and charismatic personality will be enjoyed by our millions of viewers", a beIN spokesman said in a statement.

"I have learned that, when you leave a club, you don't go around talking about it, you don't wash your dirty laundry in public", Mourinho said.

"The best way to respect a great club [Benfica] and a great president is to say that I was not approached".

Benfica's previous coach, Rui Vitória, left by mutual consent last Thursday with the Lisbon club third in the league and has now taken over at the Saudi club Al-Nassr.

Despite saying he "would not feed" the rumours that have grown since his sacking from Manchester United last month, the 55-year-old went on to definitely feed the rumours in an interview with Record.

Based on that trajectory it won't be too long till he's back at Chelsea or become Prime Minister, whichever of those jobs is available first, so probably PM then.

According to the publication, Real boss Florentino Perez remains a huge fan and the Champions League holders will do all they can to land the manager.
