John Stones came close to breaking a Xavi record

Pep Guardiola's side got off to the flawless start after taking a fortuitous lead inside two minutes.

Gabriel Jesus celebrated his Champions League debut by tapping in a rebound from close range in the 25th while Feyenoord goalkeeper Brad Jones appealed in vain for offside.

But the damage was already done and City were left to savour another glorious win after thrashing Liverpool in the Premier League just days earier.

Despite Liverpool dominating much of the second period, their defending again let them down and it was Sevilla who scored through Joaquin Correa. The Feyenoord vs Manchester City game time is at 19:45 CET/BST, 14:45 ET which takes venue at De Kuip today on 13th September 2017.

De Bruyne pulled the strings against Feyenoord and provided the assist for John Stones' second goal of the night with a superb cross.

Guardiola, who had plenty of success at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, took the reins last summer and led City to a third-place finish in the league while his side crashed out of the Champions League in the round of 16. The City boss always expected the two of them to control the tempo of City's play, but what he did not envisage was that they would be able to carry the team forward quite so quickly.

In England, Harry Kane's double spurred Tottenham Hotspur to a positive start as they beat Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund 3-1 at Wembley.

The England global headed home two goals, including the opener after two minutes, as the Citizens thrashed Feyenoord 4-0 in the opening round of Group F fixtures. From there, the Spaniard played the flawless first-time pass to Sergio Aguero, who had what seemed like an age to weigh up and execute his finish. "He was so important last season".

De Bruyne has been operating in a more deeper midfield role this season following the arrival of Bernardo Silva from Monaco.

Guardiola will also be without Vincent Kompany, who has suffered his latest calf problem.

"Last season we weren't able to win any games away in the Champions League and we spoke about that among the squad".

"Three points are very important to start the group stage". The long glittering road to Kiev begins this week at the gritty coalface in Rotterdam.
