A whopping 22 different Yankees have had their number retired, more than any other team in baseball.

Sunday night at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees honored longtime captain Derek Jeter by retiring his No. 2, and dedicating a plaque in Monument Park.

Rangers rally again to beat A's 6-4 for 6th straight win ARLINGTON, Texas - Nomar Mazara had the go-ahead hit for the second game in a row and the Texas Rangers extended their winning streak to a majors-best six in a row with a 6-4 win over Oakland on Sunday. But any teardrops from the man himself?

Then, Jeter delivered a speech.

Josh Reddick homered off the facing of the right-field second deck a pitch after Springer's first homer.

For once, Jeter plans to soak in the emotion.

You know the accounts and never a bad word about the Derek Jeter lifestyle off the field. The relationship between Jeter and A-Rod has appeared to deteriorate over the years.

The rescheduled game will begin at 2:05 p.m. EDT. After Dallas Keuchel and McCullers combined to allow an unearned run and get 16 strikeouts in 12 innings, Mike Fiers and Charlie Morton will start for the Astros.

Only tickets for Sunday will be valid for the doubleheader.

The Yankee stadium serenaded Jeter with cheers and Frank Sinatra's "My Way" as he walked onto the field with his wife Hannah Davis, who is now pregnant with their first child.

"We first met when I was in Arizona Fall League, when he was playing baseball".

Three years removed from a big league career that spanned 1995-2014, Jeter personally picked Mothers Day for his tribute.

NY stopped its first three-game losing streak since the first week.

The Yankees went on to lose the game to the Houston Astros 10-7 but it was Jeter's night, a tribute to a whale of a career that will nearly certainly end with an induction the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.

Needing two hits before a sold-out home crowd to reach the milestone, Jeter reached 3,000 with a home run and went on to go 5-for-5, the last single giving them a one-run victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Now with his No. 2 jersey retired, all single digit numbers have been retired by the Yankees.

Jeter said, "Sometimes people get ahead of themselves", when asked about rumors he was part of a group attempting to buy the Miami Marlins, per Coley Harvey of ESPN.

Jeter's No. 2 made it 21 numbers now off-limits to Yankee players.

NL MVP Kris Bryant has missed two straight games with a stomach flu and shortstop Addison Russell has been out of Chicago's starting lineup three in a row because of an injured shoulder. Before the ceremony, the Astros will try to continue the best start in team history.
