Bebe is set to perform this evening, and she's also up for the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song for her smash "Meant to Be".

The show was opened by Nicki Minaj with her new hit "Good Form", followed by her collaboration with Little Mix "Woman Like Me".

Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez did not attend either. She was nominated alongside talented African musicians; Davido (Nigeria), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DRC), Nyashinski (Kenya) and Shekhinah (South Africa) - who walked the red carpet and attended the awards in Bilbao.

She has previously won an MTV Video Award for Havana.

Cabello was voted best pop artist a year ago when the awards were announced in London. She later said her award came with a responsibility.

In his acceptance speech, Joe thanked his fans for all his support, dedicating the win to all of them.

Created in 1994, the MTV EMA is one of the two major events organized by MTV with the Video Music Awards (VMA), held each year in the United States since 1984. This category was founded to elevate and empower the fearless, original young people who are changing the world. Singer and actress Hailee Steinfield took the helm of the award ceremony as host.

One of the hits of the night was Spanish Flamenco-inspired artist Rosalia singing "Malamente" after rolling on stage in a enormous truck.

"But I feel like so many incredible things are happening for Latin music".

She continued: "Women who have been gagged, both literally and emotionally".

A full list of winners from the EMAs, including Worldwide Act winners, can be found here. Camila Cabello ended up winning best artist.

The reigning king of Malaysian hip hop, Joe Flizzow, has put our country on the map at MTV's European Music Awards 2018, and taken home the top gong for Best Southeast Asia Act.
