She then stands up and says, "This is me". I'm backstage in Louisiana, and I'm at rehearsal, about to kick off my tour, and our next show is in Houston.
She says she plans to visit some of the victims of the massive storm and let people know she cares about their plight.
Earlier during this year, the 51-year-old pop star gave birth to her first child, son Eissa. It's even more poignant following her split from husband Wissam Al Mana, which is thought to have been acrimonious.
Janet, whose show is normally more high-octane and cheerful, has just resumed her tour since giving birth to her first child, son Eissa, at the end of past year.
Janet Jackson broke down in tears on Saturday (09Sep17) after performing a song about domestic violence during her tour stop in Houston, Texas. News prior to her hiatus from touring, "What About" was not a part of the tour set list and until the reboot of the State of the World tour, Jackson had not performed the song live since 1999.
"She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts", a source told Page Six, adding, "It drove her insane, and she felt she was losing her fan base". The " That's The Way Love Goes" singer celebrated her return to the stage, by performing her 35 biggest hits and favorite tracks. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will join Jackson in visiting evacuees who are staying at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
She promised the flood-ravaged city of Houston "something special" on Wednesday.
