Israeli Minister Says Egypt Bears Equal Responsibility for Gaza

A masked Palestinian launches a balloon loaded with flammable materials to be flown toward Israel at the Israel Gaza border in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip

One Palestinian was killed and 25 Palestinians were injured during the Hamas-led "March of Return" demonstrations Friday afternoon, the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said. Yaghi and Suri were buried on Saturday.

"The ship was monitored and was intercepted in accordance with worldwide law", the military said in a statement, before the vessel, named Freedom for Gaza and carrying 12 people, was taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

The Israeli military said one of its aircraft fired at two targets in the strip's northern area, describing one of them as "a vehicle that served a terrorist squad for launching arson balloons".

Four months ago, Hamas launched a blockade-busting campaign, including mass protests and sending incendiary balloons into Israel.

Critics say it amounts to collective punishment of the coastal territory's two million residents.

"Ship to Gaza demands that those who have been taken prisoner and the ship and its cargo are returned to the location where the ship was boarded and are allowed to continue their journey in worldwide and Palestinian waters unmolested, in accordance with global law", the group said in a statement.

But some Egyptian officials say they would resist any attempt by Israel, or its US ally, to shift to Cairo the onus for addressing Gaza's long-term governance or economic problems.

The newspapers said that Israeli navy Saturday seized a Gaza-bound aid ship while in worldwide sea water and steered it to the Israeli seaport of Asdod. Hamas and other resistance groups have linked their fate to Israel freeing Palestinian security detainees.

In the wake of Hamas's approval, the TV news station said that a "very senior" Israeli official travelled to Qatar for talks on how to implement the long-term ceasefire deal.

Egypt has allowed domestic gas deliveries into the blockaded Gaza Strip for the first time, according to a Palestinian official on Sunday.

Ten activists aboard were killed, leading to a major diplomatic crisis between Israel and Turkey.
