GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories: A projectile fired from the Islamist Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip landed late on Tuesday in southern Israel, the military said.

The sources added that all wounded Palestinians were moved to the Shifa Medical Center, west of Gaza city, and that one of the injured remains in a critical condition.

Israel says attacks carried out after rockets were fired out of Gaza, a claim that Hamas denies.

Israel controls most access into and out of the Gaza Strip and has imposed a blockade on the Palestinian enclave for a decade. Launches have often been ascribed to radical Salafist groups. "He has a fractured skull and is unconscious in the ICU", Sahbani said.

The Israeli media quoted a statement by the spokesperson of the occupation army as saying that Israeli jets bombed two targets of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip in response to the rocket launch earlier in the night.

For the last decade, Hamas has been the de facto government of Gaza, while the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority has controlled the West Bank.

Israel holds Hamas, which rules Gaza, responsible for any missiles of other attacks emanating from the Strip.
